History comes to life in this competition where students explore and examine the exhibits located in the Senator Heinz History Center. Students are challenged to answer questions, write short answer responses, and analyze the historical artifacts.

South Hills literature festival
Students compete against teams from other area schools. Teams that are competing are required to read four novels and are challenged to answer questions regarding the reading material. A guest author is also present to speak with students about the importance of reading. This year's competition is using the following books: Map Thief – Heather Terrell The Night Gardener – Jonathan Auxier Counting by 7’s – Holly Sloan Little Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Calcusolve - November 19th and 20th
Students are challenged to answer complex multi-step math problems involving Algebra and Geometry related content. Competition is held at Duquesne University.
